Story

Lt John Thornton RM was tragically killed in southern Afghanistan on 30th March 2008. John died doing the job he loved, and was proud to be making a difference to both the people of Afghanistan, and to all of us back home who value our freedom. A much loved and always caring son, brother and friend to all those who were fortunate enough to have met him, his passing will leave a massive gap in all of our lives.

A charity has been set up on behalf of John, The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation. For information about there goals and events check out www.jtyaf.org.

A group of us were scheduled to do a sponsored parachute jump on the weekend of 15th/16th November to raise money for the foundation, unfortunately this had to be postponed due to bad weather but we have secured a new date which is now 8th February 2009. If you would like to sponsor us as a group or make a donation to the charity then please do so here. If you would like to get involved by joining us then email me swintonvalue@o2.co.uk.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor or donate the JTYAF. The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Thank you for your support.
