Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

What is the Maggie’s Monster Bike and Hike?

The ultimate 24-hour fundraising team challenge, a 30-mile cycle, then choose to hike 8, 22 or 43 miles totalling 73 miles from Fort William to Inverness along the Great Glen Way.

Training has been a key part of our efforts to make sure each of us completes our personal goal.  So what does that mean?  It means we each have our personal training program whether that is the gym, running around the block with the dog, or meeting as a team for mini monster bikes and hikes.

Sunday  16th March was a 24 bike ride at Loch Katrine.  It was cold, windy, and oh, yes, it rained.

Sunday 30th March was another glorious ride again at Loch Katrine.  This time we had very cold, no rain, and brilliant views.  For example,  a group of trees without any leaves, along the bank, had a dew drop at the tip of each large and small branch.  When the sun shined on the trees it looked as though the trees were adorned with thousands of diamonds – a rare site to be sure!  While some of the team were biking, a couple of others were hiking 22 miles.  At least on that 22 mile hike, they encountered a café or two.

Sunday 6th April             Forth & Clyde Canal to be confirmed

Sunday 14th April            Callander-Balquider-Strathyre to be confirmed

Behind every good team is ‘support’ !! We, not only, have the support of our families, friends, and colleagues, but also a group of four people:  Lorrae, Christina, Allisoun, and Jan who will drive equipment, food, supplies, and make sure we have a bed to sleep in.  All of these people in some way have dedicated time, money, and TLC to this event.

Some words from the Team:
Jim McLean – we have been organizing bike and walking training over the last month and leading up to Maggies.  It’s been hard work but is for a great Charity.  Dig deep!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Maggie's Centres will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.
