Sometime early on Sunday 27th November 2005 I will cast off from a pontoon in Las Palmas, Grand Canary, hoist sail and lay a course southwest for Barbados 2,700 miles away.
In 1963, with two crew, my father completed the same trip in 23 days. On my own, lack of sleep and isolation apart, I hope to beat his time and, in the process, raise money from you lot in support of Save the Children and Beormund School (special-needs). I am hoping to raise a minimum of £10 for every mile I sail. More would be fantastic.
I'm doing the hard bit. Please do the easy bit and sponsor me. Then follow my progress on www.humanedgetech.com/expedition/latymer01
Donating through this site is simple, fast and secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me. Save The Children will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
For the record, I'm not refunding anything if I muck it up or take longer than 23 days. However, in the event of the former - many thanks, in advance, for your generous support! Crispin.
