Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I did it!!! What an absolutely amazing experience...a really challenging journey both physically and emotionally. Am so privileged to have been part of such a wonderful event and have met many fantastic people as well.
A HUGE thank you to every single person who sponsored me for The Teenage Cancer Trust. You really have helped the lives of teenagers suffering with cancer. I appreciate your generosity greatly.
Alice was, without a doubt, with me every step and it is with her strength that I will keep striving forward.
Funds are still coming in, and I will advise the final figure raised in due course. I am anticipating at least £10,000 for the Teenage Unit at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge.
Many thanks once again

Alice and I had always planned to do The Inca Trail Trek together, to raise much needed funds for The Teenage Cancer Trust. Sadly, this wasn't to be, so Kev and I are going to take up the challenge in Alice's memory. I know for sure that she will be urging us on every step of the way.

Every day in the UK, up to 6 teenagers or young adults will find out they have cancer. These young people, in the midst of their already difficult journey to adulthood, suddenly find themselves faced with a possible life-threatening illness and very often receiving treatment in inappropriate facilities with inadequate support options. Until the age of 16 a teenager is likely to be treated in a paediatric ward alongside toddlers. If the same teen was diagnosed after turning 16 then they are likely to end up in an adult ward with elderly patients. Many must put life on hold, just as it is starting to take off.

Teenage Cancer Trust exists to ensure that teenagers and young adults are diagnosed efficiently, treated effectively, and have the support they need to make it through their treatment and rebuild their lives after cancer.

This was a cause held very close to Alice's heart. She, more than anyone, knew what a difference a Teenage Unit  would have made to her journey over the last 2 and a half years. We attended meetings about the new Teenage Unit at Addenbrookes Hospital throughout Alice's treatment and I will continue to see the project through to the day the new unit is opened. Alice was always very eager for that day to come.

Additionally, The Teenage Cancer Trust sponsor the Jimmy Teens website, a teenage cancer website offering support and friendship to other sufferers in the same age group. Alice made numerous films of her cancer journey and there is no doubt in my mind that the positivity this evoked, had a huge impact on her final 2 years of life. I will forever be indebted to Jimmy Teens for giving that to Alice. I would urge those who haven't already done so, to take a look for yourselves at these remarkable teenagers on: www.jimmyteenstv.com.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Teenage Cancer Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

My brave and beautiful Alice did not die in vain. She left a huge impact on anyone who was lucky enough to have met her (as well as many who didn't) and touched more hearts than many of those who live far longer than her tender 18 years.

Sadly, due to health reasons, Kev is now unable to trek with me, but we both agree that despite this set back, I will still be taking part in this challenge.

Thank you so much for your support.

A huge thank you to all of my off-line sponsors of which there are far too many to mention. Every penny counts and all donations are so appreciated.

Much love
