Story

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page.

All children who go to Martin House receive the best care and attention at absolutely no cost to the families.

To show our grattitude and thanks Sonia and Sheena are doing a sponsored parachute jump and all monies raised will go straight to Martin House.

Here is a bit and Sonia and Sheena so you can understood why Martin House is special to us and why we want to say thankyou.

Sonia's eldest son, Corey, is terminally ill. Corey will be reaching a huge milestone this year by becoming 18 years old. When Corey was born Sonia was told many times by doctors that he would not survive for long.  Against all the odds Corey has defied the doctors. For many years Martin House has played a big part of Corey's life. Martin House has been constant in support and help, not just to Corey but to his family. A few times a year Corey will be invited to visit Martin House with his family, his mum Sonia, his dad Mike and his 2 younger brothers Stephen and Mikey.  During these visits the Martin House staff will tend to all of Coreys medical needs, they will sit and have talks to any of the family, they will even sit and play computor games with Corey if that is what he wants to do. Nothing is too much for the staff and they are there for anyone 24 hours a day.

Sheena's foster brother, Simon, was also terminally ill. Unfortunately Simon lost his fight for life in 2000 at the age of 11. Simon visited Martin House many times with his foster mum Maureen.  Simon enjoyed these visits immensely and as he was coming to the end of his life he asked to spend his final days at Martin House. After Simon passed the help and support from Martin House did not stop. Maureen recieved much help and counselling from Martin House for which her family will always be grateful for.

These are just 2 stories from many. Some one has described the Martin House staff as living angels, never has a truer word been said.

The sponsored parachute jump is Sonia's and Sheena's way of saying thankyou to Martin House. Thankyou from themselve's and thankyou from all the families who have Martin House in their lives.

So please dig deep and help Martin House support the many families that need them dearly.
