Story
Update: We did it! Managed to run the entire way and finished in 5hr22mins, which we are very pleased with (we were hoping to do it in under 5hr30mins). We've also hit -and gone over- our target of £3,000 pounds as you can see, so all in all it's been a resounding success . Thank you all so much for your donations, and more importantly, support - it's been a fantastic experience!
Matt and Soph are running the marathon!
I know what you're thinking - why on earth would we want to do that??
Well.. it's all for a good cause - so we'd love you to sponsor us as we slog our way around the 26.2 mile route.
We are supporting AICR (Association for International Cancer Research) and hope to raise £3,000 for them.
A little bit of info:
AICR is an independent charity who supports fundamental research into the causes, mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. They are currently supporting the work of more than 300 scientists in 23 countries and funding in excess of 231 projects in over 101 of the world's top scientific establishments. (Find out more here.)
We do understand that there are always people asking for sponsorship for one cause or another, so on our part, we pledge that in exchange for sponsorship, we will NOT bore you with any of the following* over the next 4 months:
- New or existing blisters and their condition
- The relative benefits and drawbacks of protein shakes
- Updates on toenails falling off or turning interesting colours
- Any type of chafing
- How sore our legs / feet / whole bodies are
On a serious note, this really is a charity that is close to our heart as both of our families have been affected by cancer - and unfortunately it seems that's more common than not these days.
So we're really pleased to know that any money we raise will go to such a good cause.
A big thank you for all your support so far - and don't forget to think of us on the 26th!
Matt & Sophie
