Story

In 2009, Sophie’s brother Andrew Symeou was unjustly extradited to Greece from the UK where he faced manslaughter charges that were based on mistaken identity, false and fabricated evidence. After spending a year in a Greek prison on remand, and a further year on bail in Greece, his lengthy trial proved his innocence and Andrew was finally acquitted on 17 June 2011.

Sophie, her best friend Gabby, and many supporters continuously fought for the Andrew Symeou Campaign for Justice.

One charity that helped the campaign continuously was FAIR TRIALS INTERNATIONAL. FTI offered constant support to the family and legal advice throughout the whole duration. They believed in Andrew and the injustice he was facing. FTI is a human rights charity that helps people arrested far from home to fight for justice and defend their right to a fair trial.

Sophie and Gabby will be trekking Mount Kilimanjaro, starting on October 12 for eight days to raise money for FTI as a huge THANK YOU for their tremendous help. The work they do for so many others internationally should be supported.

Sophie and Gabby are not the likeliest of candidates to be trekking Kilimanjaro, but hey, if Cheryl Cole can do it, surely they can?

They will be facing altitudes of 5895m, camping in temperatures of up to -30°C (yes very cold!) with various terrain and weather changes.

We hope you can dig deep and help Sophie and Gabby raise money for this amazing charity, which has helped not only Andrew and his family but so many others facing injustice too. PLEASE DONATE.

If you would simply enjoy seeing Sophie and Gabby suffer then donate also!

Thank you.

“This is for my brother and for fighting for justice that should be a right, not a struggle.  It will physically push me to the max but it’ll be worth it for FTI, please sponsor us as it would mean so much!”

Sophie Symeou

“Every day we take for granted just how privileged we are, being part of such a profound case, experiencing first hand the strength and resilience of the Symeou family and the tremendous support of FTI has inspired me to give back.”
