Hi everyone! I was fortunate to gain a place to run the London marathon in April 2008 through my employer, Lloyds TSB. LTSB is sponsoring the London 2012 Olympics, as is SportsAid, who I am raising funds for. SportsAid offers grants and funds to young athletes: people with more talent and willpower to succeed in sport than I have. A SportsAid grant can offer both substantial inspiration as well as practical financial support to meet the costs of training. I finished the marathon on Sunday 13th April - and it was truly fantastic! I ran the entire course, and kept my pacing consistent, both of which I am really pleased about. The support of the crowd, and spending a lot of time looking at the runners around me -- especially those dressed as rhinos, Masai warriors, Mr. Men, etc. -- and the blessing of parish priest along the route as well! -- got me through. I would not have traded this experience for anything. As you can see, I've already received a tremendous amount of financial support, which has been matched by lots of other kinds of support and encouragement from many others during training, which has made all the difference. Both myself and SportsAid are truly grateful. Sophie
