Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In October 2010 James and his wife Katherine are going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, which at 5896 metres (19,344 feet) is the tallest free standing mountain in the World. James is doing this to raise money for South Chiltern Explorer Scouts, whilst Katherine is doing this to raise money for Age Concern Oxfordshire. By donating on this site you are kindly supporting South Chiltern Explorer Scouts - Katherine has her own page for Age Concern Oxfordshire (www.justgiving.com/ageconcernoxon).

As many of you will know I have been involved in Scouting since I joined the Cubs when I was 8 and I have continued through the Movement to my current role as District Explorer Scout Commissioner, gaining my Queen Scout Award along the way. Explorer Scouts are one of the older age groups of the Association and is for young people aged 14 to 18. I am now in the privileged position to be able to give the members of South Chiltern Explorer Scouts the same opportunities that I had to enjoy a wide range of activities, try new things and hopefully make lifelong friends.

The money that you give will help the Explorer Scouts to buy new camping and expedition equipment to enable them to continue with their annual camping trips as well as having the correct equipment when they undertake their Queen Scout and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. This will mean that we can continue to offer the Explorers a varied, exciting and adventurous programme of camping experiences both at home and abroad. We are also hoping to buy a new storage facility to keep all of this new equipment in!!

We are both enjoying our training and also organising the fundraising activities that we have planned in the build up to our challenge. We are very grateful for your kind support in helping us to reach the fundraising targets for our two charities.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
