Story
On Friday 28th June a team of colleagues including our very own Matt Papworth, our CEO Justin Ash and CFO Jitesh Sodha, who will cycle a massive 333km from our Dorset Rise office in London to Spire Bristol hospital. The team will be in the saddle for over 15 hours and along the way they will stop off at St Anthony’s, Gatwick Park, Portsmouth and our Perform site in Southampton.
We have chosen Sarcoma UK as one of charities to fund raise for. Sarcoma is a charity which is very close to the team and Spire Portsmouth Hospital, supporting our beloved colleague Melanie de Lacy and her campaign Let me be me. in 2016 Melanie was diagnosed with advanced Metastatic Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) This is a rare form of Sarcoma, a cancer that affects the connective tissues in the body like the internal organs , muscles and bones. Sarcomas are rare and account for only 1% of all cancers. Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) accounts for only 5-10% of all sarcomas.
After a long battle and Melanie sadly passed away over the Easter weekend April 2019 after a long battle with Sarcoma. Mel was surrounded by her devoted husband and two beautiful children.
Despite her illness Mel never let it define her. Mel took her terminal diagnosis and made something positive out of it. Her message is clear, Live each day as if it was your last, enjoy every moment and do not waste time stressing about the little things that do not matter. All Mel wanted to do was life a long happy and healthy life with her young family. Sadly that opportunity was taken away from her. So to help other women live a longer life and get early diagnosis Mel dedicated much of the precious time she had left to create her campaign "Let me be me" and help raise money for Sarcoma UK to fund vital research.
Please take a moment to click the link and read Mels story and help us reach out target and help Sarcoma fund life changing research. IF it saves one life we have succeeded.
