Story

St Andrew's Church is a prominent landmark standing alone in the Cambridgeshire countryside just a field away from the East Coast Mainline.

The Grade II* Listed Building dates from the 13th. Century and today some 15 million passengers catch a glimpse of St. Andrew's and for many travellers there is a personal connection as with an old friend.

It is now owned by the Friends of the Friendless Churches and many thousands have already been spent on securing the exterior of the building. Work to replace the porous roofs of the Aisles and install surface water drainage / dispersal systems is scheduled to start shortly, but in the longer term the interior remains a huge challenge with floors, windows and Chancel walls all needing attention.

About the charity

Over the centuries, churches have fallen out of use for many reasons. But we believe that these buildings are the spiritual and artistic investment of generations, that they belong to all of us, and should be preserved for the future. We currently care for 60 places of worship in England and Wales.
