We help improve Cardiac Care to support people with heart conditions

Story

Latest Update: 18 July 2007

I would like to thank everyone who has donated to Wessex Cardiac Trust, either through this site, via donations from their Hill McGlynn salaries, or directly via Wessex Cardiac Trust or  through our wonderful funeral directors Diamond & Co of Lymington.

The children and I have been overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness and it is a comfort for us to know that Stephen was so well loved, not just by us, but by so many of you all too.

Times are extremely difficult for us at the moment, as you can imagine, but we are trying to keep positive and channel our energy into happy memories and thoughts of our special time with Stephen. He was such a wonderful fiance (almost husband!), Father, mentor and friend and I feel privileged to have spent the past 12 years of my life with such an inspirational and good man.

We will keep this site open for a little longer in case there are still some friends who have been away and have not yet been able to make a donation.

In the meantime, our heartfelt thanks to all of you who have given so generously - it is great to know that some good has come out of our loss, for the benefit of others in the future.

Thank  you

Alison

Original message:

It is with great sadness that I have to advise you of the sudden death of my fiance Stephen, who suffered a massive heart attack whilst driving a racing car on a corporate driving day at Bedford Aerodrome on Tuesday 12th June. We were supposed to be celebrating our wedding day on Sat. 30 June 2007 but instead we will now hold a celebration of Stephen's remarkable life. If you would like to join us please ring Alison on 01590 624846 for further details.

Many of you who were coming to our wedding will have seen this site set up to receive your donations to Wessex Heartbeat instead of giving us wedding presents. As Stephen suffered a heart attack it is ever more poignant that we support his chosen charity.

Stephen was an avid supporter and Trustee of the Wessex Cardiac Trust. He was first introduced to the charity when we were invited to a charitable event over ten years ago. At that time a great man called Alan Blair was the CEO of Wessex Cardiac Trust and it was through his infectious commitment and passion for the charity that Stephen was soon drawn in and became a Trustee.  Wessex Heartbeat does a tremendous job funding specialist equipment for the heart unit.  A few years ago a they helped fund a state of the art Training centre at Southampton General Hospital which enables surgeons to perform heart surgery on video which is transmitted live across the world and their expertise can be shared amongst heart surgeons worldwide.  Rotary House, is a property opposite the hospital, which is funded by Wessex Heartbeat. The house has just been extended and provides first class, self-catering accommodation, free of charge, to familes of heart patients.  The facilities are wonderful and enable families to stay close by to their loved ones during a difficult and worrying period in their lives.  There is even a special annexe for families with children so the siblings of child heart patients can also be accommodated in a warm and homely environment.  Stephen and I were both committed to helping Wessex Cardiac Trust continue with their tremendous efforts and now in Stephen's memory I would be pleased if you would dig deep into your pockets and give generously.

On behalf of Wessex Cardiac Trust, thank you.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also a most efficient way to sponsor Wessex Cardiac Trust, who will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please make a donation now !

Many thanks for your support.
