Story
Hi folks. My name is Stephen. My mother Donna died in September 1997 after a long battle with multiple sclerosis. She was a unique and special human being. Friends and family meant everything to her. She seemed more worried about others around her even when she was gravely ill. Just getting out of bed to face another day was a struggle for mum but she never gave in to the illness. When her mobility began to deteriorate she was given a wheelchair so she could get around more easily. She point blank refused to sit in it...Not even to try it for size :-) It demonstrated her resolve and strength of character. There were many similar episodes. Shortly after her death I ran in the Glasgow half marathon. I raised a reasonable amount of sponsorship for the MS society before the event. When my mums ten year anniversary came round last September I decided to do something similar to pay tribute to her. I signed up to climb Mont Blanc. At 15,871 feet it's the highest mountain in western europe. En route to the summit I will be enduring sub zero temperatures and altitude sickness. Other hazards to be negotiated or avoided along the way include crevasses, steep icy ridges, rock falls and avalanches. All going well I should be on the summit during the very early hours of July the 25th. Thanks for looking in and thanks in advance for your kind donations....Stephen.
PS...Any donations you make via this site are passed securely and directly to the MS society. Gift aid of 25% is also applied to any pledges so that even more money is added to your original pledge.
