Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Like most people, when I have a problem I turn to my family and friends to help, but what if they weren’t there, whom could I turn to? This is the plight for many children who through no fault of their own find themselves with a problem and with know one to lean on for help and support. That’s where the NSPCC come in, as they now run Childline, the UK’s free 24-hour helpline for children in danger or distress. It is funded primarily by the generosity of people like you and me; in fact 84% of their income comes from voluntary donations.
As I have previously said, when I have a problem I turn to my family and friends to help. Well 2008 is going to be a bit different, as this is my year to “give back” but not as you may think to those that have so generously helped me over the last few years but to those that need all of our help, the children with only Childline as their support mechanism.
To this end I have challenged myself to complete 3 Marathons over 4 races during 2008 in order to raise as much money as possible but with a target of £3000 for NSPCC/Childline.
2nd March - The Reading Half Marathon
5th May - The Belfast Marathon
5th October - The Bupa Great North Run (Half Marathon)
2nd November - The New York Marathon
This is the part where I turn to family, friends, colleagues, friends of friends, in fact everyone and anyone that is willing and able to help by sponsoring me in this challenge.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: NSPCC will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
