Story
Hi all,
I recently signed up to run the London Marathon for the charity Global Action Nepal. The marathon is a foot race with a distance of 42km so it may take a few hours to get from start to finish. This will undoubtedly be a bit of a challenge but it's all done in the name of a good cause.
Global Action Nepal is a UK Registered Charity (no. 1090773) that has worked on improving standard of health, sanitation and education in Nepal since 1996. Some of their major work has included:
- - Training and support to over two hundred teachers throughout Nepal.
- - Construction of vital school and community infrastructure, including toilets, classrooms and water points.
- - Giving the opportunity to over sixty Nepalese children to receive an education.
- - The conducting of training and skills development of Nepalese youths.
GAN's projects are always closely in harness with grass roots' level needs, focusing on community-led, participatory development. It does not seek to change the culture or people of Nepal but to provide them with the tools to enable them to help themselves.
A little money goes an awfully long way in Nepal. For the following donations, you can achieve the following:
£10 will sponsor a child’s education for an entire month
£25 will buy fifty books for one of our Education Centres
£100 will sponsor a Nepali volunteers’ valuable work in the field for two months
£120 fund the activities of one of our ‘children’s clubs’ for a year
£250 will build a toilet block for a school
£1000 will build a whole new classroom in a Nepalese school
Please note that donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
