I am part of a group walking around the Mill trail in Newport, Isle of Wight to make the shape of the Iris, another group will be cycling around the perimeter of the Island to make the shape of the eye. (www.justgiving.com/ride4sight2008).

Ride and Stride for sight aims to raise funds to restore sight to those who have gone blind through retinitis pigmentosa. RP is caused by defective genes switching off the cells of the retina.

Recent publicity regarding treatment trials using gene therapy and the bionic eye are important steps in the fight to cure RP, and ultimately using stem cell therapy scientists aim to regrow the retina. All this is expensive in both time and money so please.......
