Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hello,
For some reason having finished one half marathon a few months ago i have decided to run the 2011 New York Marathon. I am running for Macmillan Cancer Support as this is a cause close to my families hearts.
Macmillan fund nurses and other health and social care professionals to help improve the lives of people living with cancer. They provide support at home, giving carers precious time off and small things like lifts to hospital it all helps when people need help the most.
What the money raised can do.
£143,273
could fund a Macmillan nurse for 3 years, providing emotional and practical help to people affected by cancer and their families.
£105,333
could fund one of Macmillan's new community based rehabilitation support teams.
£29,250
will pay for a Macmillan benefits adviser to work in a Citizen's Advice Bureau for a year providing welfare benefits advice.
£3,333
could keep a Macmillan cancer information and support centre stocked with all the information resources it needs to support people affected by cancer for a year.
£350
could pay for a convalescent break for someone with cancer and their carer.
£51
could buy a liquidiser for someone who can't eat solid food as a result of their cancer treatment.
£17.50
could pay for one more member of a cancer support group to go on a social event with other support group members.
99% of Macmillans services are funded entirely through the generosity of their supporters. This is where me and you all come in.
So this marathon, its on November 6th 2011 so training starts now for me to stand a chance of completing the gruelling 26.2 miles course.
Please SPONSOR ME however little it all helps a fantastic cause and please dont forget to tick the Gift Aid box as this gives a great amount extra to Macmillan.
Thanks
Stuart
