We support people to help rebuild lives after stroke.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

I have decided to do a mile long sponsor swimathon to raise some well needed donations for The Stroke Association.

Every year, over 130,000 people in the UK have a stroke. That's one person every five minutes. Most people affected are over 65, but anyone can have a stroke, including children and even babies.

A stroke is the third most common cause of death in the UK. It is also the single most common cause of severe disability. More than 250,000 people live with disabilities causes by stroke.

My grandfather suffered from two major strokes seven years ago and has been severely disabled since and is now struggling to do any day to day activities that many of us if not all of us take for granted such as eating dressing standing and just simply talking.

My grandad has always played a major part in my life and has helped me through troubles and always been there and as a by stander of watching what a stroke does to someone you love it is very heart renching to not be able to do anything so this is why I have decided that raising money for the charity that helps my family to care for my grandad would be the best help I could give.

The Stroke Association is the only national charity solely concerned with combating stroke in people of all ages. It funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation, and helps stroke patients and their families directly through its community services. These include dysphasia support, family support, information services and welfare grants. We also campaign, educate and inform to increase knowledge of stroke at all levels of society, and we act as a voice for everyone affected by stroke.

So please sponsor me now and help them give families like mine the help and support to deal with this life changing disablitiy.

Many thanks for your support.
