I can't speak for anyone else but when I went into labour in 1981 and 1983 I was concerned about a lot of things, as I guess a lot of mum's would be, but it never crossed my mind that I might not come home with my baby.

Sadly, coming home without the longed for baby currently happens (on average) to 17 mums every day in the UK. I found this figure shocking, which is why I am supporting SANDS with this page.

Sands is conducting ongoing research into why this happens and provides support for anyone affected by the death of a baby.
