Story

Following 5 months of training for Trailwalker UK, it’s become clear that with a week to go to the event, we cannot realistically complete the challenge safely in the allotted time without there being a significant risk to the team and, especially, to Naomi.

After having trained across the whole of the 100km course in the last few months, a number of sections of the course are beyond what we believe is suitable without distrupting the chances of other participants. The South Downs Way record for a wheelchair in non-competitive conditions stands at a full 9 days and we have opted not to expect Naomi or our sponsors to start something that we believe we couldn’t safely finish.

However, all is not lost! Despite having to retire one of our Team for medical reasons, the rest of us are all fit and raring to go – and that includes both Mark and Naomi.  So the 100km challenge is still on as Team Trailtriker splits in two for a joint trailwalking challenge!!!

Across the same weekend, 22nd-24th July 2016, five of the team (Andy, Dom, Emily, Suzy and James) will be taking on the Oxfam Trailwalker event on the South Downs Way whilst simultaneously, Naomi and Mark will attempt an extremely tough 100km course on trails across Surrey in a specially adapted off-road wheelchair.

We have raised over £5000 for Oxfam and the final push is now on to get both teams around 100km courses to thank our huge group of sponsors, donators, family, friends and colleagues who have supported us all and helped Naomi to recover so much strength during her battle against cancer.

Our thanks go to Oxfam for their continued support and to MountainTrike who have supported our efforts all the way through. Most of all, our thanks go out to you all for sponsoring us.

It’s been an incredible journey for us all so far and we hope you will continue to help to see us through as both halves of our team set their sights on the finish line.

Follow our progress all day and night next weekend on social media by following@trailtrikers on Twitter/Instagram and Periscope.

There are 5000+ reasons why we're going to smash it!!!

With love and thanks.
