Story

On Sunday October 21st, 2012, a group of us walked 25 miles over the South Downs Way - from Buriton to Winchester - in an attempt to raise £5,000 for the Southampton and Winchester Visitors Group. This was our FIFTH year doing this - last year we fell short of our target total for the first time, but still managed to raise a mighty £4,400.

We set off from Buriton at 8.45am and after EIGHT HOURS' non-stop slog through wind, heavy rain and mud - OH THE MUD - we finally arrived at the Black Boy pub in Winchester, filthy, bedraggled and exhausted, at our scheduled time of 6pm.

Having done this, we would love it if you could give us a teeny-tiny bit of money?

The SWVG (www.swvg-refugees.org.uk) is a small registered charity which gives personal, practical and financial support to asylum seekers, especially those made destitute by current government policy. The £4,400 we raised last year was absolutely crucial to the group, enabling us to provide vital humanitarian help and support towards some of the most vulnerable and disenfranchised members of our communities. A number of the SWVG's grants weren't renewed this year, and thus we are truly DESPERATE for whatever money you might be able to send our way. We don't care how little - we appreciate all of it. So please - we implore you - POSTHUMOUSLY SPONSOR US NOW.

Here is a list of our noble 2012 walkers. Please feel free to leave a personalized message of support.
