Story

 Well folks, Im finally doing the one thing that I have always wanted to do, The London Marathon, and NO Im not mad although you might think I am.

As some of you know, I have suffered a nerve pain in my head for the last three years, what this means is that  I can physically feel a nerve moving and this puts pressure to my scull. I may look and act like I am not in any physical pain, even laugh and joke (eat your heart out hollywood) , but I do have these symptoms.

So what do I have?;

Conversion disorder of the brain

This is a disorder where a person gets symptons which suggest a serious disease of the brain or nerves (a neurological disease). For example, blindness, deafness, weakness, paralysis or numbness of arms and legs, now thats why I had nine hot baths in one day - a warning sign of things to come I suppose....

The symptoms usually develop quickly in 'response' to a stressful situation. You unconsciously 'convert' your mental stress into a physical symptom.

Conversion disorders tend to occur between the ages of 18 and 30, hey, Im 36. Symptoms often last no longer than a few weeks but persist long-term in some cases, just like me. Often there is only ever one episode and no treatment is needed once symptoms have gone. Some people have repeated episodes of conversion disorder from time to time.

During my condition there were alot of good people around me, but Im afraid to say that there was a few people who just did not understand  maybe due to lack of information or just being too busy ( I dont blame them it's just the mad world we live in). This whole experience has taught me alot about myself, people and of course the NHS. I therefore would like everyone that knows me to donate towards the charity I am running for, I am not just running , but I am also running with a over-active nerve in my brain, so that should deserve a higher contribution, I hope!.

Also, to my dearest friend Theresa - I am also doing this for your Dad .

In addition to this, my brother in-law has lost his past memory recently , so I run for you also.

P.S. Would love to have you at The London Marathon to support me too.
