Look, I know I've hit my target, but I've also decided to continue as I pulled the figure out of the air ... so, the more money - the more for the kids :)
On the 1st July I will be cycling the first stage of the Tour de France - a gruelling 120 miles from London to Canterbury. I will be mirroring the same route as the pro's, exactly one week before.
You can find out more, including the route, at http://www.everydaycycling.com/events.aspx?fid=598.
Although I enjoy cycling, this is a hugely daunting task. I already know I shan't walk comfortably for at least a few days after ...
To build up to this I have been cycling at least 120 miles a week. This last month is the most important. I will be doubling my weekend rides. I expect to spend 15-20 hours a week cycling in prep. The big day, I will be cycling 8-10 hours straight - hoping to average 15mph.
I chose Great Ormond Street as my nephew spent a lot of time there. The hospital was, and are, fantastic. Sam is now a very healthy and happy kid, which is all down to the great work that was provided.
I'm sure you will all appreciate that this is my "big one" this year. I shall cycle other charity stuff, but this is the only one I shall raise for in 2007. I won't bother you again, so please support me!
As a finish, this will have cost me plenty just to take part. 100% of donations will be going to GOSHCC.
