We provide patient support & fund research to help people have useful sight for life

Story

The IGA team will be taking part in the Adidas Women’s 5K challenge on Sunday 5th September 2010 to raise funds for our new project on ‘glaucoma eye drops and adherence to treatment’.

Research shows that many glaucoma patients do not use their medication properly, because of improper administration techniques. This is a very important issue as eye drops are the key to slowing down or stopping the progress of this insidious eye condition.

The IGA has put together an educational tool (compliance briefcase) to assist health care professionals counsel their patients on their disease and the importance of treatment adherence. The briefcase will include samples of all available eye drop bottles and dispensing aids, as well as various information leaflets. This will enable each patient the chance to be shown how to best use their eye drop bottles, ask questions and have the opportunity to discuss any issues related to their condition. We are aiming to provide one briefcase to each hospital eye unit throughout the UK and our objective is to improve patients’ compliance by taking the time to educate them on glaucoma, how to use their eye drops and instillation techniques.

Please take the time to donate today via our JustGiving page or alternatively send us a cheque to IGA, Woodcote House, 15 Highpoint Business Village, Henwood, Ashford, TN24 8DH or payment can be taken over the phone by debit/credit card, just ring 01233 64 81 64 (please quote Adidas 5K in your correspondence).

Thank you so much for your support, this means a great deal.
