Story

 - Global Alpha Training Event - May 2008

In May 2008, a team of 8 from Holy Trinity Brompton (Andrew, Claire, Diego, Laura, Lia, Miles, Rachel & Scott) will be going to  to run a two day Global Alpha Training (GAT) event. The main aim for the GAT programme is to "release Alpha expertise to train people in regions yet to run courses".

Ever wondered what it's all about?

Over 2 million people in the UK and 11 million worldwide have now attended an Alpha course, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life, running in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world.

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions, with a day or weekend away.

The event will cover training on how to run Alpha in the delegates' context, looking at ways to develop Alpha in Panama, and will allow plenty of time for blessing and refreshing by the Holy Spirit. The team are also keen to spend a couple of days getting involved withMissionwork with a local Charity whilst there.

The trip is part of bigger vision run by Alpha for 60 teams to run 80 training events in 35 countries training up 9,000 delegates to run 2,400 courses with the direct impact of Alpha courses being started resulting in 72,000 lives being changed, because God is mighty to save and nothing is too small for him! Take a look at the video on to learn more about the vision for the project:

The team will be visiting and working with the Indian Reservation in the mountains, the Indian reservation is a children's feeding shelter and the team will be working directly with the children as well as helping to build a second much needed shelter. The indian reservation is  about 2 hours from Boquete. Check some of the pictures on the left.

There are around 100 children from the ages of 3 to 15 years old who are cared for on the daily basis.

The team needs to fundraise around £6,500 to cover flights and other travel costs, immunisations, accommodation and food and everything else, so every prayer and penny would be gratefully received.

Many thanks for your support.
