From 5pm on the 16th of February to 5pm on the 17th of February members of Windermere Rowing Club will be taking part in a 24 hour indoor rowing relay to raise money for Mind and Papyrus prevention of young suicide.

We will keep two ergs going throughout the entire 24 hours it’s not about the split or the watts it’s all about enjoying the challenge, raising funds for incredible charities, raising awareness and creating an open conversation about mental health and wellbeing both in sport and in everyday life.

We would like to keep the proceeds for each chairity as equal as possible, for example if you would like to donate £5 please donate £2.50 to one charity then make a seperate donation of £2.50 to the second donation point through the team page!

As a rowing club we are united by the love of our sport. Mental health in sport is extremely important, as not only does enjoying a sport assist in the support of one’s mental health, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, those at a high level of sports such as rowing can struggle with the pressures of their sport. Therefore, ensuring that the conversation regarding mental health in rowing, is open, is vital. Both charities are extremely relevant to sport, but also in daily life outside of sport, as the current mental health support system stands in crisis. Mind and Papyrus do crucial work in supporting mental health and wellbeing which is vital in the current climate as a need for mental health support is more prevalent than ever.

We hope this event will help raise awareness and break down the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide.

We aim to split the money raised equally between both charities as both do incredible work!
