"It’s about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."

On Saturday the 7th November 12 members of the Police and 9 Soldiers of Her Majestys Armed Forces will be attempting to run from the Mast at Winter Hill into Victoria Square at Bolton a distance of 6.9 Miles, in boots, carrying 36lb of weight each, as prescribed by Army Regulations in addition to any water they will use. This is similar to one of the Commando Tests currently used by the Elite Marine Cammandos.

The Soldiers taking part are a fighting fit group of 9 disciplined men. Athletes everyone of them and in their prime!

The Police and PCSOs taking part are of........... "varying" fitnesses and ages ranging into their sixties although several are proud of their previous military experience. (Its rumoured one of them served at the Battle of Waterloo!) However, this is indeed a challenge for all the people taking part as they aim to complete the course within 1.5 hours, a daunting task carrying that weight.

We all have one thing in common. All the people taking part both the runners and support people, along with the Bolton Mountain Rescue who will also be escorting us on the last stages (and possibly sooner!!) are doing so to help our fellow countrymen and women in their darkest hours.

Please help us to raise money for those who have given their everything.

Thank You
