Inspired by Bernie’s amazing achievement a few months ago Gary Wootton and I (Ron White) have decided (Bernie can be very persuasive, but has promised to return the incriminating photos and negatives afterwards?!?) to  have a go at a challenge and  have entered a team into the London Triathlon taking place at the ExCel Centre on  Saturday the 9th August.

We will be the only team representing the Lloyds TSB Group.

We have the added challenge of raising £1000 for Sports Aid a charity which provides funding for young athletes who are training for 2012 Games.  

To meet this target we need your help please in the form of sponsorship. We have set up this Just Giving payment page where you can donate in the enjoyment that we will be suffering to complete three gruelling events. So if we have ever caused you extra work through an urgent request (unlikely as that may be!!) now’s your chance to get even. Please make a donation today and pledge as much as you can afford. We will even consider sponsorship of various parts of our anatomy from departments so if Customer Services want Gary’s inner thighs this could be arranged at an appropriate fee!!

Each of us will be completing one leg of the event with Bernie taking care of the 10k run, Gary cycling 40k and starting with me doggy paddling for 1,500m (which Gary assures me is just a couple of lengths). Whilst Bernie is a proven athlete Gary and I have started a rigorous training programme for the next six weeks. We are making great progress with Gary hoping to be able to remove his stabilisers soon and I now only need one set of armbands to complete a length of the pool.

Further updates on our training will be sent out and a picture of one of us at an early training session . 

We are also looking for support on the day especially in the form of lifeguards to drag me out of the water. Baywatch swim suits will be provided but please bring along your own buoyancy aids (blonde wigs are optional).
