Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit 'Team Gemma's' JustGiving page.

Our team members are Ian Carberry, Liam Carberry, Sara Ellis, Nikola Flint, Paul Flint, Paul Large, Barry Wilson and Paul Wilson and now Brian Lighthowler.

In December 2012, Gemma Carberry was diagnosed with breast cancer. At 29 years old Gemma is full of life, wife to Ian and mother to their two boys Leighton (4) and Owen (1). Gemma works full-time for Stockton Borough Council for the 'Care For Your Area' team. Her diagnosis came as a huge shock to everyone, Gemma and Ian's families and all of their friends.

Gemma has undergone two operations and has chemotherapy and radiation treatment ahead of her. This is a distressing time and charities like Breast Cancer Care are critical in Gemma's challenge to beat breast cancer. Gemma is proving herself to be a fighter, a strong and positive woman who is an example to us all.

Gemma's courage, strength and determination is inspirational. To show our support and admiration for Gemma, and to raise money to support the fantastic work of the Breast Cancer Care charity, a team of Gemma's friends are attempting to run the Great North Run in 2013. For most of us this is an extreme challenge as we are not all 'runners'. We are however, prepared to take on this challenge hopefully demonstrating our courage, strength and determination to succeed. We are proud to run for Gemma and we hope you are able to support us.

Your donation will make a difference!

If you would like to get involved and run with 'Team Gemma' please apply for your place via 'Breast Cancer Care' and contact Nikola Flint (07791 040155) to confirm you have secured a place and officially join our team.
