In May 2010, for the sixth consecutive year, the Hallé is entering a team of runners in the 10k Great Manchester Run - Team Hallé

Team Hallé, made up from Hallé musicians, staff and supporters are running to raise funds for the Charles Hallé Foundation in support of the Hallé's Youth, Education and Outreach work.

The Hallé's award-winning Education Programme reaches over 35,000 participants a year principally by placing Hallé musicians in the community, in schools, youth clubs, community centres and young offenders centres, where they compose and perform music alongside project participants.

The programme aims to create a wider enjoyment and understanding of music in all sectors of the community; to engage with those who do not traditionally come to the concert hall; to provide opportunities to participate in music and other creative art forms and to actively search out and connect with new audiences.

The Hallé also operates four ensembles to encourage and engage talented young musicians via the Hallé Youth Orchestra, Hallé Youth Choir, Hallé Harmony Orchestra and Hallé Children's Choir. All of these groups operate without charging fees to participants.

We hope by putting our running shoes and pounding the streets that we can raise a few pounds sterling to ensure the continuation and development of all these programmes.
