Why ham and jam? On D-Day men of D company 2nd battalion the Oxford and Bucks light infantry landed very close to there objectives at 16 minutes past midnight and were the first allied troops to land in France on D-day. Their objectives were the two bridges over the Orne river and the canal.within 10 minutes they had done this task and the codeword message was sent to confirm that both bridges were in their control. That message was. HAM AND JAM The HELP FOR HEROES 4x4 EUROPEAN RALLY 2010 (www.h4hrally.co.uk) will start at Noon on Saturday 19th June 2010 at a secret location in North Wiltshire. After using byways on Salisbury Plain we will all go to to embark on the ferry over to . It will be a 1650 mile/2640 km expedition encompassing 6 countries in 10 days, this non-speed event comprising a maximum of 30+ teams will be part history tour, fun competition, part off-road driving and part club-type social, open to all types of 4x4 vehicles. The money raised by teams will be donated to our chosen charity, HELP FOR HEROES (www.helpforheroes.org.uk).Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
