173 Mile Hastings to Portsmouth and Back 2 Day Spectacular Chairty Bike Ride
On the 31st of August, this event will see 8 of us cycle the 86.5 mile journey from Hastings to Portsmouth, only to stay the night and cycle another 86.5 miles right back again. We are a tight knit group of friends (nicknamed Team Problem Walrus) all in our early 20's with the exception of one member, Jason, who is actually the dad of one of our other members, Josh. We are all local boys growing up in both Hastings and Bexhill. None of us are 'athletes' in any sense of the word, but we have all been training very hard to make this 173 mile goal a reality.
The 8-strong team consists of Sam Kelly, Grant Fraser, Josh Lawson, Steve Elliott, Jason Kind, Karl Bailey, Dimitri Karalis and Matt Davies.
We are aiming to raise £1000 for different charitable causes, each with a personal significance. These are as follows:
St Michael's Hospice (Hastings) (Karl Bailey, Matt Davies)
Crossroads Care East Sussex (Josh Lawson, Steven Elliott)
The British heart Foundation (Sam Kelly, Dimitri Karalis)
JDRF(The world's leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research) (Jason Kind)
Macmillan Cancer Support (Grant Fraser)
With the support of the local community, we are looking to reach our target. We feel the charities we have chosen will undoubtedly have helped many people in the local area. Therefore, we hope to be able to give back a little something, for all the great work they have done.
Donations can be made by clicking on our individual pages. Depending on which charity you would like to support, please visit one of our member’s pages and pledge whatever you can! We really appreciate any support you can give, even if that is just sharing this page with your family and friends.
We will be leaving from Hastings pier and cycling through Bexhill at approximately 7:45am on Friday 31st August. Any support along the way would be amazing! We will be arriving back at the pier on Saturday 1st September by (hopefully!!) 7:30pm.
Thank you so much,
Team Problem Walrus!
