As a Chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance our mission is to address issues of social justice whilst using the power of story.
For 2014 we have decided to raise money for our Chapter funds and a variety of charities that are important to us through a campaign we are calling 'Face Your Boggart'.
You'll see our team fundraising target on the right (this will be a combination total of each invidual's target). Your donations can really help us smash this goal. In short though, in Harry Potter a Boggart is a creature that when faced turns into your greatest fear. In the series you can use the incantation Riddikulus to turn the Boggart into something less scary. In the Muggle world we will just have to use the technique from another story to tackle our fears head on. In Divergent (by Veronica Roth) the Dauntless faction face their fears as part of their initiation. They learn to control their fear rather than eliminate it and that's just what we are going to support each other to do.
May 2014 will be the month when we will arrange to face and support each other facing our respective fears.
