UPDATE

On 27th May 2013, the team successfully completed the John O'Groats to Lands End cycle challenge in 10 tough days, including climbing Glen Coe and Kirkstone Pass.

Thank you for so much incredible support. Your donation kept us going and each day cycled and closer to the goal was inspired by Milla and all the wonderful support and encouragement we received.

Thank you.

The Challenge

In May 2013, we will tackle one of cycling's great challenges.

Starting on Saturday 18th May and finishing on Monday 27th May, we will cycle 990 miles / 1,593km, averaging 100 miles a day, from John O'Groats to Lands End in a 10 day cycle ride.

John O'Groats to Lands End is a huge challenge for any cyclist. We will be battling hills, wind (which will be generally against us), fatigue and exhaustion, pain and age! All in Lycra cycling shorts.

The Reason

Tony Frobisher has twin daughters, Louisa and Milla. They are now 6 years old. Louisa and Milla were born extremely prematurely at 24 weeks, 16 weeks early. They were 2 of triplets, their older sister, Jewel, sadly passed away after 17 days.

As a result of her extremely premature birth, Milla developed severe cerebral palsy, resulting in her being unable to sit, stand, walk, talk or eat; she has to be fed through a tube in her stomach.

The Make A Wish charity support Milla and many other children with life limiting or life threatening conditions, by providing them with a special wish - a memorable experience such as meeting their favourite footballer or a holiday of a lifetime.

The wishes the children receive are so special and bring some happiness to children who face pain, discomfort, stress and disability every day of their lives.

Milla recieved a wish from Make A Wish in May 2012, travelling to America for a once in a lifetime experience. A week at the Give Kids The World Village (a purpose built holiday village for children with life threatening conditions and their families) and wonderful VIP treatment from Mickey, Goofy and everyone at Disney World, Florida.

We hope to raise as much as possible to allow Make A Wish the possibility of continuing to grant wishes for seriously disabled children and for children living with life threatening medical conditions.

Make A Wish make these special children forget their pain and give them memories that last forever.

Many thanks.

Team Members

Tony Frobisher: Organiser, planner, consumer of bananas. Hates hills, unless he's going down them. Tony has raised £18,000 so far for three charities in various cycling / trekking challenge since 2007, Bliss, Scope and Make A Wish. This will be Tony's 7th major fundraising event and will come 5 weeks after the London Marathon, which he is also running for Make A Wish.

Oliver Gross: German climbing machine; hates going down hills, love going up - the steeper, the better. Lives in the flatest part of northern Germany and dreams of mountains. Oliver and Tony cycled from Worcester to Dublin and back in 2011 for Scope. Oliver is also participating in the London Marathon for Make A Wish.

Jim Yeoman: Jim lives on his bike, wears Lycra to work and enjoys nothing more than stomping up a >25% hill. Cycled Alpe D'Huez - for fun! He's looking forward to cycling up Scottish mountain passes while reading Cycle Sport magazine. A keen fundraiser, Jim and Tony trekked to Everest base camp in 2012 with Scope.

Stuart Walker: Stuart was enthusiastic about joining the cycle challenge. He has a zest and zeal for two wheels and Lycra unmatched in the UK (with the exception of Jim Yeoman, see above). He's climbed, Kirkstone Pass, Alpe d'Huez and many other bumps. A man built for and who loves the hills. The youngest team member. We may need to borrow his legs occasionally.

Support Drivers

Kate Adams

Kate's middle name is enthusiasm. Always positive and with bucket loads of determination, Kate joined the team after trekking to Everest with Jim and meeting Tony on the trek also. Her ability to make chocolate cake ( a speciality called Poor Caka) will make her an invaluable member of the team. As the only female member of the team, Kate's massage ability will be severely tested, unless Sean or Ian want a go....

Sean Veasey

Sean joined the team, mostly out of concern he may have been required to wear Lycra and cycle if he hadn't agreed to drive. Unlimited positivity, happy, motivating and kind words, Sean will be a real asset on the JOGLE cycle challenge. Sean and Tony met at military school when the ZX Spectrum was the IPad of its day....

Ian Walker

Ian joined the team as second support vehicle driver. His calm supportive organisation skills will ensure everyone is fed, watered, clothed and taken care of - in all weather and situations. Although faced with the prospoect of listening to BBC Radio Scotland in the car, he is (unknowingly) first reserve for the cycling...better dig out the Lycra shorts.
