As a parent, spending time in hospital with your child, no matter for how long, can be difficult and at times traumatic.
Two members of our team have severley disabled children and, perhaps more than many, have spent countless hours at Sheffield Children's Hosptial, often having to sleep there for days on end, while their child recovered from an operation. The hospital has been, and still is, a huge part of their lives.
Sheffield Children's Hospital is one of only four dedicated children's hospitals in the country and our children are very lucky to have a world-class hospital right on the doorstep. It is a centre of excellence and a leader in many areas, with over 260,000 children from all over Yorkshire, the UK and the world, attending the hospital every year!!
So now it is our turn to give something back and help the hospital raise much needed funds as it undergoes a huge transforamtion.
The team target is £500 ( although it would be fabulous if we could exceed this of course!)
£8 could pay for colourful plants for the new sensory garden
£50 could pay for furnishings and equipment in the new play areas
£200 could pay for sensory equipment such as bubble tubes for a patient's room
£400 could pay for the bedside entertainment system for a patient's room
£1000 could pay for a special pull out bed so that parents can stay close to their child while they recuperate.
Neither Steve nor Kate have ever run a marathon before so this will be a huge challenge for them! They are no Spring Chickens any more!
