Story

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS CHARITY?

In March 2010 we were told that our dear friend who was only 32 years old had heard the words "you have got cancer". Up until that moment, she had her whole life ahead of her without limits. She had just bought a beautiful house and was making big plans for her life.

Unfortunately despite fighting hard through 9 fractions of aggressive chemo therapy along with radiotherpy she sadly lost her fight with cancer at the beginning of this year 2011.

She was an amazing person and will be missed dearly, she inspired us to complete this challenge. We will now walk for her and for all those affected by cancer.

Moyna also had another dear close friend who was in her late twenties having just given birth to her son was diagnosed with extensive tumours throughout her entire body, Moyna watched her struggle for two years and finally loose her fight.

When someone you know has Cancer you feel helpless and unable to take the hurt and pain away, we wanted to do something to make a difference, this is how and why we chose to complete this challenge.

This charity provides a lot of support and does wonderful work for people affected with Cancer including our dear friends.

WHO ?

Moyna and Alex signed up to do this incrediably hard and challenging trek in PERU. With the aim to raise a massive amount of money for the MacMillan Cancer Support. This charity does an amazing job and helps people affected with cancer and  supports their families.

HOW?

With hard work and training and a fighting sprit!!!!

When we looked into doing the trek, we read that you can get altitude sickness and get pretty unwell and some people dont make it to the top. No amount of training will help you to avoid altitude sickness which is described like having the flu, a massive hangover and food poisoning all rolled into one!!!!

We will be hiking for up to 12 hours each day and mostly uphill into increasing altitude! Camping in two men tents on the hard floor at night and without a shower or hair-dryer in sight! We will also become accustomed with natures toilets we are told!

We read that its grueling and a very hard physical challenge but we feel its nothing compared to the journey that people with Cancer have to go through! We are determined, motivated and a little scared to be honest!

We are doing this for you! our dear friends Anita and Mahima.

PLEASE DIG DEEP AND GIVE US ALL YOUR MONEY!!!!! WE NEED IT FOR THIS CHALLENGE!!!!!
