Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
The parents of newly diagnosed diabetics don't just remember their child's birthday but also the day they were diagnosed with diabetes.
On 21st June 2007 our daughter Chloe, aged 11, was diagnosed with type one diabetes. This changed her and our lives forever. She has been uncomplaining in her daily rounds of blood testing and injections and has been an inspiration to us and both her sisters.
The money we raise for JDRF will be used to fund research into finding a cure for this chronic disease. We have persuaded wonderful friends and colleagues to join us in this challenge in June 2010. Beth is also running the London Marathon for the third time. MADNESS.
We have the bikes and the lycra and the training has started. All we need now is to raise as much money as possible for this very worthy charity that is obviously very close to our hearts.JDRF was founded in 1986 and has raised more than £700 million pounds which is dedicated to scientists to research a cure into type 1 diabetes. Not only does it fund these projects but it is often a lifeline for parents of newly diagnosed sufferers offering support, education and contact with other parents.
JDRF raises money to fund research into a cure for type one diabetes, a condition which strikes suddenly, often in childhood, leaving sufferers dependent on multiple daily injections and blood tests for life. it brings with it the threat of devasting complications.Already in the space of 3 years Chloe has injected insulin thousands of times and tested her blood sugars. The incidence of type 1 diabetes is increasing year on year and more and more children are being diagnosed.
