TENN12ATHON: The Results and the thank you's.

On Sunday 22nd August, Adam Ponting and Luke Woodards played tennis for an incredible 12, uninterrupted hours and completed Dorking Tennis Club's first "Tennisathon". The boys played fantastic tennis all day and the last set was just as competitive as the first with each point a battle. They were true warriors!

In total, 155 games were played over the 12 hours - this was 17 sets and 7 matches. At the 8 hour mark Luke was winning 56 games to 55 but in the last 4 hours Adam took the lead to win 82 games to 73, 9 sets to Luke's 8 and Adam won 4 matches to 3. The score was incredibly close all day and both deserve huge congratulations on their achievement!

The boys played in true charity spirit and with everyone's help managed to raise a fantastic total for The Rainbow Trust. The target set for the day was £1000 and this was smashed through and our current total is just over £1500 and still counting! We would therefore like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated online, in person or came down on the day - it really did make the difference. The support club members, friends and family showed on the day was fantastic and surpassed our expectations - a special mention must go to Quentin, Wilfred and Martin Hoad who made it down for 7am, midday and even came back for the finish! It was lovely to see such a crowd at the finish and really helped the boys push through exhaustion in the last few hours!

A few thank you's must go to those who very kindly donated prizes and equipment: The Running Horses, PWP, Seymour Sports, Luke Woodards, Adam Ponting, Georgie Kennington, Brian Love, Fred Hoad and Rainbow Trust.

A huge thank you must also go to the Rainbow Warriors - motivational umpires and bbq team: Nev Marsh, Alex Helmsley, Louise Cloney, James Ponting, Chris Bedford, Cleo Halliday, Hannah Bush, Tom Lester, Ellie Marsh, Georgie Kennington, Doug Andrew, Nick Carlisle, Laura Dickinson, Greg Tweedale, Jo Woodards and Ros Abbott. Without your help the day couldn't have gone ahead!

Finally, if you haven't donated at would still like to, please please donate online today at http://www.justgiving.com/tenn12athon. We look forward to seeing the bright Rainbow t-shirts around and once again thank you all so much for your support, it made it a great event and we hope you too had an enjoyable day!

Many years ago Adam and Luke had a dream to play tennis for an entire day!  Recent events at Wimbledon reignited these dreams and on the 22nd of August it will become reality!

We are raising money for the fantastic Rainbow Trust Children's Charity, a locally based charity that is deserving of our efforts and donations.

Starting at 7am, we will attempt to play tennis for twelve continuous hours, following standard tennis rules and scoring.

The event will take place at Dorking Tennis Club with a bbq on the day and competitions and prizes up for grabs! Any support on the day would be greatly appreciated!

With the donations of friends, family, work colleagues and random strangers we are aiming to raise a £1,000 for the Rainbow Trust.

Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity provides practical and emotional support to families when their child has a life threatening or terminal illness. Our support lasts from diagnosis throughout treatment, to bereavement or recovery and beyond. Immediate help is on hand through our eight teams of Family Support Workers operating from bases across the country.

How your fundraising makes a difference
