I just want to thank everyone who donated towards my River Thames Kayak Adventure to raise money for Children in Need.

Day one, Friday, From Cricklade Bridge to Tadpole Bridge, 23 miles. Hard paddle at times, weather good, a little bother with swans but not to bad. I did not get that far without some pain, but the journey was worth it, a nice meal and a Guinness worked wonders, my road support Cheryl, earned a nice meal and a G nT too!!

Day two, Saturday, From Tadpole Bridge to Osney Lock, Oxford, 21 miles. Very good paddle, Lock keepers are great, I went through four Locks with other boats and boaters, really friendly folk on the rivers. On this stretch of the river I had no problem with male swans, I even had one take food from my hand! looking forward to tomorrow.

Day Three, From Osney Lock to Benson Lock, 22 miles. Weather dull, little rain, this stretch was a little hard going, more muscle aches than on the first day. But I did meet some nice people along the way. "Yes" to nice people!

Day four, Benson Lock to Caversham, 20 miles. Weather very nice, & I felt pretty good today, I have gone through the pain barrier for know! lovely part of the Thames, but still to much litter and rubbish among the over hanging trees! Cheryl headed home today cousin Janet Croft took over road support. Night spent with Geoff and Pat Brisby friends of Janet in Streatley.

Day five,Caversham to Boulters Lock, Maidenhead, 25 miles. Another good days paddle, weather very good, a little head wind at times. that is when you know you may start to feel some aches because you really have to punch & pull your paddle harder. Cousin Janet headed home , Brother Brian & his wife Eileen took over today.

Day six, Boulters Lock to Chertsey Lock. 19 miles. Quite along paddle but I wanted to make sure that my last day on the upper reaches of the Thames was not to long. I met up with two good guys on a work badge, paddled a few miles along side to gain ground, got a cuupa made at one of the locks! Good look to a nice female called Nicky who I met at Penton Hook Lock, Nicky had been involved in a motor bike acident, ouch!! A good day on the river.

Day seven, Chertsey Lock to Teddington Lock. 12 miles. Strong breez against me at times, some showers, steady paddle, pleased to see Teddington Lock, approx 136 miles behind me! YES!! Bro Bri & his wife Eileen left for home, hope they have a better journey back then what they did coming down.Steve my long time friend has taken over, a yachtsman himself.

Day Eight, Teddington Lock to Shadwell Basin. 21 miles. Rainy dull start, dull rest of the way, interesting paddle, spot on timing, BUT NOT a beginner's paddle past Tower Bridge & Houses of Parliament, AT  ALL!! Had an interview with radio Humberside could'nt even remember where I'd finished my river journey "paddle puddled" Steve & I staying over with a Tower Hamlet Canoe Club Member Rob Russell.

Day Nine, Tower Hamlet Canoe Club (Shadwell Basin) to Erith YC. 15 miles. Nice but cool morning, only sixteen miles but lots of chop and swell from cruise boats, half a metre chop & upto a metre of swell, both yesterday & today were not for the faint hearted, there was a strong head on breez at times & that with choppy tidal water plus swell from boats means that EVERY paddle counts!

Day Ten, Erith to Gravesend, Kent. 8 miles. After a fun but coldish night spent in a boat hanging in a sling with Steve & Cheryl, (Thanks to Guy the person who owns the boat, a good person to know!) it was time to set off on my last day, it was cool & breezy, but the weather became better as I drew earer to my destination, a good nine mile paddle, very pleased with my new kayak built by Marsport & pleased with myself, I arrived forty mins earlier than I expected. I was met by James a member of the Gravesend sailing club in his Canadian Canoe, James & all the G S C members that we met  were a bunch of very nice freindly folk, & Gravesend is a nice place, by the river there it is really nice. my friends Ian & Sharon Brown came to meet me, we all had a good time having a banta, then it was time to go home & time for me to say cheerio to the river Thames. 

My road support have been wonderfull, thank you to them, & thank you to all of you who has supported me.

I want to say one more thing, I wish & hope that one day our Goverment will pass an act to help clean up our rivers, it is a disgrace what I have seen in the river Thames & on it's river banks, it was the same along the wonderfull river Trent!
