Story

Thanks for visiting The Gap Partnership's fundraising page.

We are pleased to announce that all three members of The Gap Partnership Cycling Team completed the ride in one piece after a rigorous and challenging 3 days. The first day from London to Dover included the notorious Capel le Fern hill.  The weather on the second day was heavy showers and thunder storms. The last day was gloriously hot, a memorable event with the ultimate climax of cycling into Paris to be met by our families and friends. It was described by the team as probably the hardest physical event they had ever done.

It is not too late to sponsor us and we are still under target- so please help us to collect the full £3000. Thank you

The ride entailed a total of 512K from Imber Court, Surrey to beneath the Eiffel Tower over 3 days *.  The ride is described as a professional event for amatuers and had maintenance support and rolling block road closures.

Our Aim

To finish the three day ride in one piece and cross the finish line in Paris as a team on 27 June 2009 in order to raise £3000 for charity.

How this came about:

Andy and Graham came up with the idea last summer and after a few beers it sounded like a great way to get us fit and raise money for charity at the same time. Andy thought this would also make the most of his new bike. Graham hoped that this would help maintain his cycling fitness. James thought that he would like to get back into the sport he cherished in his younger years.

James's father Arthur, passed away in January 2009 from an aggressive brain tumor at the age of 63. Arthur, flanked by his wife and two sons spent the last few weeks of his life in the tender and loving care of the staff at the Hospice of St.Francis. Much is owed to this Hospice and it relies on public donations.

The newly formed Gap Partnership cycling team therefore decided to raise money for the Hospice in support of their colleague and the local charity.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hospice Of St Francis (Berkhamsted) gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor us now!
