Fundraising for The Children’s Literacy Charity
Story

We're delighted to say that we all made it round the 3.5 miles last Thursday, 8 July, with times ranging from 21 to 37 minutes! This is the sixth year that we’ve entered a team to run the JP Morgan Chase Challenge and in 2010 we are raising funds for our charity of the year, Springboard for Children.
This is the sixth year that we have entered a team to run the JP Morgan Chase Challenge and in 2010 we are raising funds for our charity of the year, Springboard for Children. Springboard for Children is a registered charity who works in partnership with primary schools, and currently working in inner city schools across London and Manchester. There is often high unemployment, crime, inadequate housing, and few opportunities surrounding the areas these children live in. Each child has an allocated tutor and is taught using a structured, multisensory, phonic based programme, as advocated in the Rose Review ‘Identifying and Teaching Children and Young People with Dyslexia and Literacy Difficulties’. A specialised team of teachers and trained volunteers offers one-to-one literacy teaching, to help underachieving children in deprived areas of the UK recognise, value and achieve their full potential. Springboard for Children was founded in 1992 by committed Christians. Their work began at Oliver Goldsmith Primary School, South East London, and was designed to bring hope and faith to underachieving children, regardless of their faith or background.
