We are Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity. We stop at nothing to help give seriously ill children childhoods that are fuller, funner and longer. Because we believe no childhood should be lost to illness.

Story

Jack is a patient at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital.

He was diagnosed with a rare form of arrhythmia at the age of 2 and was an extremely poorly boy. At the age of 4 it was thought that Jack would never be able to run or play sports due to the dangers surrounding his condition. Jack miraculously went on to get stronger and stronger with the help of his consulting team at GOSH and continued treatment and medications. The healthcare professionals were astounded and classed him as a walking miracle as he even went on to be signed to a professional football team as a goalkeeper....

As Jack turned 13 things started to go wrong and he became very ill, there were no obvious reasons why this was happening but he went downhill extremely quickly. This resulted in 2 emergency heart surgeries the first on 01.12.16 and the second on 03.01.17 where he had an ICD implanted. Following this Jack had to undergo a month of aggressive treatment for an internal infection that could have been fatal if not for the quick response of his consultants and the team on GOSH's Bear Ward!

Jack, decided to fight back and through a positive mind, sheer determination and physical activity he is back stronger than ever and even back playing football for Stevenage FC.

Jack had an aim to raise money by climbing a mountain but whilst on his journey to full recovery and fitness Jack was advised to raise funds in other ways. Alongside his family Jack decided to throw a Fundraising Ball in September 2017 to thank GOSH for all their help, for saving his life and their continued amazing care and support! Jack would like as much generous help as possible to make this event and further fundraising events of his a success.

2018 - The first Charity Ball was such a huge success that Jack and his family are hosting a second in October 2018.

2019 - Planning for a 3rd Charity Ball is underway! 4th October 2019

Although Jack is still a mystery to GOSH and the cardiac specialists without the amazing team he would definitely not be here today fighting fit and looking at ways to thank them and help other children facing the same kind of scary journey.

Here is a little video Jack put on YouTube to share his journey just after his 2nd surgery...
