Story
It was over a pint at the King's school reunion that the plan was made to run the London Marathon this year for Rupert Johnston and the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT).
Rupert (brother of Magnus and school friend of Rob, Max and Tim) suffered a severe brain injury in a road traffic accident in 1997. He has since been making slow progress at his care home, Kent House in Aylesbury, part of the BIRT organisation.
Rupert has benefited and continues to benefit immeasureably from the work of BIRT, so please give generously to the charity that not only 'Roops' but thousands of others have benefited so hugely from.
The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust is a division of The Disabilities Trust and the means by which The Disabilities Trust provides its brain injury services. The Disabilities Trust was founded in 1979 to provide an imaginative new concept of personal care and specialist housing for people with special needs.
Since then their services have expanded to include purpose-built accommodation, community-based housing, respite care, education, community enabling and rehabilitation.
Their services are divided into four divisions to meet the needs of:
- people with autism
- people with acquired brain injury
- people with profound physical disability
- people with a learning disability.
