We provide fun-filled activity holidays to change the lives of disabled children

Story

We did it!!! Well 59 of us did it and Anand managed to break his collar bone!! ouch

Our first ever Helly Hansen Adventure Race - 10k run across country, 25k on the mountain bike, a bit of kayaking and some obstacle course bits and bobs at the end just to keep us interested - easy peasy - times varied from 2 1/2hrs to 4 1/2hrs

What will we remember - the cold, the snow, the freezing water in the Kayak's, the first 3k run ("oh it's going to be hard", "will I make it?", "will I beat the fat Dane?", "all the doubts"), the broken collar bone, the "Should have gone for a wee before I started", the mountain bike (I think we actually quite enjoyed that, even the steep bits)(maybe this comment does not apply to Anand!), the run to the Kayak ("I thought I was going to die") AND THAT WE DID IT!!!, oh yes and now - the PAIN!!

Huge thanks for coming onto our fundraising site.

We've selected a very special charity to support

THE NEWMAN TRUST

It's a wonderful charity whose volunteers take kids with special needs on week long residential activity holidays. Best way to show you what they do is to send you to their promotional video on You Tube (you'll have to copy the link and paste it into your browser)

BUT PLEASE remember to come back and sponsor us HERE ...

If you've not been on Justgiving before then it's by far the easiest way to support us - they take care of everything - it's safe & secure, they pay the money directly to the charity, they sort out Gift Aid etc ...

THANKS AGAIN

About the charity

The Newman Holiday Trust

RCN 326429
Established in 1981, the Newman Holiday Trust began by running a one week summer holiday for children with special needs. The Trust now provides holidays for about 130 children with special needs aged four to sixteen each year, in various locations around the UK. Due to the high level of skilled care they require or financial circumstances, the children selected for these breaks would not otherwise receive a holiday. The holidays provide a range of fun activities in a safe and supportive environment and use a care ration of one helper to one child at all times. The Trust is an entirely voluntary organization and owes its success to over 200 people who dedicate their free time to helping these children. This voluntary structure ensures that every penny raised goes directly towards a child's holiday.
