Story

Thank you for visiting The Taylor Woodrow fundraising page.

Well it was a hard slog and the weather fought with us all the way, but we all made it to the finish line under the Eiffel Tower on Sunday 7 September. Thank you to all those that supported and sponsored us, it certainly was a worthwhile event that was both challenging and enjoyable to all that took part.

In total 70 riders set out from Crystal Palace at 7am on Friday and battled their way through the wind and heavy rain to be greeted by sunshine at Newhaven Ferry Terminal. Despite the promise of a force 6 gale, the ferry crossing was uneventful and a nice rest for weary legs so that the final 2km cycle to our first nights stop was not too difficult and we all arrived safely at the Dieppe hotel at around midnight. We had a late start to the second morning and set off across the 'gently undulating' french countryside at around 10.30am with the sun in the sky and a light breeze in the air, this was the shortest days ride with only 88km in front of us before our next overnight stop at Gourney en Bray. The final day arirved and saw us stood in the hotel car park at 6.30am waiting  to get on our way, but despite the grey sky and light drizzle our spirits were high as we started the longest stint of the ride with roughly 110km between us and the finish under the Eiffel Tower. As the day progressed and our legs started to feel the pain, we slowly edged our way towards Paris. By lunchtime we had covered 75km and enjoyed a hearty meal at a local Golf Club before setting off for the final push to the end. After a couple of stops we all grouped together on the outskirts of Paris and rode in one big group towards the Eiffel Tower where we were greeted by a large group of supporters and a couple of bottles of champagne, everyone was overjoyed to have complete the mammoth task and we are now looking forwards to the next challenge....!!

Although the event has now been completed you will see above that we are still some way short of our target, so please dig deep and give as much as you can to aid us in reaching the £10k which will really help Richard House carry on their fantastic work.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Richard House Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support .
