All monies raised is going to the charity 'Friends of the Lazarus Home for Girls.' The charity based in the UK is raising funds to build a girls' orphanage in Bethany situated just outside Jerusalem. The project involves the construction of a five storey building, as the current orphanage is housed in cramped rented accommodation. The new building will provide a home for local destitute girls who are often found abandoned on the streets, abused and neglected. It will also house a kindergarten to benefit the local community and a skills centre too.

The Lazarus Home for Girls was founded 13 years ago by Samar, a Palestinian Christian who has dedicated her life to providing a loving caring environment for the girls. There are currently 30 girls at the home who range in age from 4-15 years. The new building would enable Samar to house many more girls in a much more spacious place. The shell of the new building is now complete, but money is needed to pay for the all the internal work, fixtures and fitting.

About the charity

We are building a new five-storey residential home for up to 75 homeless girls and staff. It will house the girls and include offices, workshops and also a much-needed women's health clinic for the area. The building is situated in Bethany, 3 miles east of Jerusalem, on the West Bank in Palestine.
