Story

Thanks for visiting - we're raising money to support the National Autistic Society, and hope that you can add a few pounds to the pot!

Thomas Hulme is 8 years old. (Now he's 9!) He lives in Preston, and goes to a really nice school where he has great teachers, and lots of friends. He is a member of the cubs, and creates the most amazing comics,

Earlier this year, Thomas was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome, a type of Autism.

Some of his special interests include Star Wars and LEGO, and so when he saw in the LEGO magazine that they were supporting the National Autism Society, Thomas decided that he would like to help and raise some fund for this really good cause, helping other people facing similar difficulties to those that he has.

Fundraising activities so far include:

·         COMIC SALES - Thomas is writing a series of new comics, and selling copies to family and friends.

·         JOKES - Jake, his younger brother, is selling jokes to family and friends

·         MANCHESTER TO BLACKPOOL BIKE RIDE - a team of barristers and staff from St Johns Buildings is entering this year, co-ordinated by Sarah Singleton QC (more info)

Why are Lego supporting the NAS?

Lego and the National Autistic Society might appear to be random partners, but there is a sound reason for their link. Research has indicated that children with autism like Lego - its logical, structured character means they enjoy playing with it.

The Autism Research Centre in  Cambridge has begun a research project designed to exploit Lego's appeal and help develop social skills in children with autism, encouraging them to collaborate in building models. Lego was notified of the project and the company saw an opportunity for it to give some help...
