Fundraising for British School at Athens

On Sunday November 9th, Thomas Loughlin, 2007-2009 Macmillan-Rodewald Student of the British School at Athens will run the Athens Classic Marathon. This race has its historic beginnings in 490 BC when a foot soldier arrived in Athens to declare victory of the Greeks over the Persians at the Battle of Marathon. Revived during the 1896 Olympics, this race takes over the ancient pathways and is still considered one of the most difficult marathons due to its terrain.
Thomas will run to raise money to sustain the work of the British School at Athens, an institution founded in 1886 by British and Irish Universities, which offers scholarships and bursaries for research for on Hellenic studies.
