Story

I'm running the 2010 London Marathon for the National Autistic Society and I need your help...

Those of you who know me might be suprised to discover that I can run, let alone cover just over 26 miles, but if you read on you will see I have a good reason to make the distance...

My eldest son Jacob was diagnosed as being on the Autistic spectrum in 2007. More specifically Jacob has difficulty with social and personal interactions and language development. He is a very bright and intelligent little boy in every other respect, but some aspects of his behaviour can be very challenging.

The National Autistic Society (NAS) champion the rights and interests of all people with autism and aim to provide individuals with autism and their families with help, support and services that they can access, trust and rely upon and which can make a positive difference to their lives.

It is organizations like the NAS that make daily life a little bit easier, and I want to show my support and appreciation by taking on perhaps the biggest challenge of my life so far!

The National Autistic Society is here to transform lives, change attitudes and create a society that works for autistic people. There is still so much to do to increase opportunities, reduce social isolation and build a brighter future for autistic people. With your help, we can make it happen.
