Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My car, a 1966 Triumph TR4A is Entry no.42 on the 2016 Club Triumph Round Britain Reliability Run. The car was bought by my late father in September 1970 as a retirement present to himself and inherited by me. I consider it an heirloom.

I joined Club Triumph in 1974 and so far have taken part in twenty RBRRs in this same car, more than any other Club member. This year's event will be the fourteenth for Mike Hockaday and me, which will be a new record for a driver pairing. Please visit www.club.triumph.org.uk where you can read more about the Club's premier event. This year's Run will start 50 years to the day after the first so we will be proudly celebrating its golden anniversary whilst supporting Guide Dogs. Have a look at www.guidedogs.org.uk to learn of the work done by this wonderful charity.

The car has been extensively modified over the years to improve performance, driveability and safety without detracting from its essential classic character. It is fitted with seats from an early US market TR6; these have high folding head rests, which offer enhanced safety over the originals and allow the co-driver to sleep more comfortably on long distance events like the RBRR.

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
